29th November 2018 – Last night at the HealthInvestor Power Fifty 2018 Awards, Octopus Healthcare CEO Benjamin Davis was announced as the winner in the Leading Investor category. The HealthInvestor Power Fifty awards identify the most influential individuals across six key aspects of independent healthcare.
Benjamin took home the award due to his innovative deals and achievements in the last 12 months. HealthInvestor commented that “there can be few individuals who see more deal opportunities than Benjamin” and were impressed by “how aggressive the Octopus team has been at winning deals and supporting the market with investment”.
Since taking on the role of CEO in February of this year, Benjamin has overseen great successes for the business. Planning permission has been granted on developments across the country including at Henley in Arden and Birkdale; new care homes have been delivered including in Orpington and Sutton Coldfield, with Baycroft and Care UK respectively; and the second phase of Rangeford’s retirement community at Wadswick Green has been completed. Octopus Healthcare also celebrated the first anniversary of its evergreen care home fund, the Octopus Healthcare Fund, which raised £187m over the past year, and completed a £60m deal with leading operator New Care.
Benjamin said: “I’m absolutely delighted by this award. It’s been very exciting to be at the helm of Octopus Healthcare, and I want to extend my thanks to the whole Octopus Healthcare team for making this such a successful, rewarding year. Next year, we will continue to use our expertise to provide the UK with much-needed specialist healthcare real estate. We have a depth and breadth across healthcare that sets us apart from our competitors and I’m looking forward to finding new opportunities for Octopus Healthcare in 2019, so that we can continue to deliver on our mission of providing exceptional healthcare facilities that you would choose for your loved ones.”
The Power Fifty is voted amongst the nominated 50 via a blind ballot, and Benjamin fought off tough competition from key leaders in the field; the full shortlist can be found here.
